Healthy and Well Chronicles – Exhale Mind Body Spa

One of my recent wellness experiences was a visit to a top rated boutique fitness and day spa called Exhale. If you really want to woosah this is the place to go. During this hour long flow yoga class, I was able to relax and let go of some tension.

My biggest challenge in the moment was holding my body off of the ground during several poses. It was pretty intense. The lighting was great, cool vibes, and a really great facility. I would highly recommend it to those true Yogis out there. They teach a lot of other classes there too. Here’s the link.

Spice Up Your Workout with the Megaformer

This summer has been filled with lots of new and exciting health, wellness, and beauty related adventures. I’ve tried new makeup, added a few more weights to my fitness routine, and tried out a few new fitness classes to spice up my life. Over the past year I’ve worked out at a gym and taken a few dance and weight training classes to stay motivated. I started to feel a little stagnant and wanted to give myself a little boost in enthusiasm.

Then along came the Class Pass. This site has to be the most incredible thing a fitness person could ask for. You subscribe to a monthly package with points that allows you to try out different gyms and fitness classes. You can try as many new trendy classes as you want. There are tons of options. You can never get bored! From hot yoga and spinning to boot camp and boxing, you have a plethora of health and wellness fixings within a mileage radius at the touch of a button. You can learn more about that here.

The first-class thing that I tried was the Lagree Fitness Method. Quinlan of POPSUGAR says, “Lagree Fitness studios have infiltrated New York and Los Angeles and are now making their way to the rest of the country.” The Megaformer was created by Sebastien Lagree.  It is a machine that allows you to tone your muscles and strengthen your body.  I did myself the honor of not googling or researching anything and just jumping right in. I had no idea what to expect and I was alright with that.

I went to an hour-long class at PACE in Atlanta and was pleasantly surprised.  The Megaformer reminded of the table from the chiropractor’s office and quite honestly, I felt realigned after I left. During the class, the instructor guides you through various slow movements that sculpt you from head to toe. It is not easy, but it does let you work muscle groups that may be harder to get to with other methods.

This is definitely something that I’d like to add to my regiment. I was so excited to find a workout that helped me to build up my core! I’m not the most flexible person in the world but felt a bit nimbler. I’ve even heard that megastars like Meghan Markle are really into this workout.

Next, I’ll be trying Zumba and Barry’s Boot Camp.

Hot New Health and Wellness Apps

One of many great new fitness trends are options for the tech-inspired athletic crowd. While exploring the latest and greatest in health and wellness, I discovered ways to improve health with just the click of a button. You may be familiar with various fitness trackers and gadgets, but have you tried any of the new apps?

Health and wellness apps are gaining popularity because they allow you to create customized workouts, chart progress, and make good choices.  Some apps even allow you to meet and connect with others with similar interests and goals. According to Hiconsumption, FitBit Coach and Nike Training Club are just two of many excellent fitness apps out there.

The Nike Training Club offers 150+ free workouts, notable fitness trainers, and advice on nutrition and wellness.  You can select different workout plans based on the part of your body that you would like to strengthen. You can also sync your fitness tracker to monitor your heart rate. The FitBit Coach app also lets you keep track of your fitness activities. You can create a soundtrack to help you stay motivated during your workout or watch videos.

Other top apps include 7 Minute Workout, Blogilates, Charity Miles, and Jefit. Many of them are free or may require a small fee for specialized features. You can find routines and calendars, record your activities, and even count the number of calories that you consume every day.

When I first got started, I used the FitBit watch and app a lot. I could set it up to send me activity reminders and even check in with other health buffs. I really liked that it helped me to keep track of the calories that I burned during my workouts. I could set my weekly goal of say – work out four times as week – and earn badges and rewards when I reached my goals. I think this really kept me motivated because I was able to quantify the action, the food, and the number of calories burned. It helped to make the whole fitness thing more logical.

I encourage anyone who is into health and fitness to search your app store and find out what’s new. From running and HIIT training to yoga and plyometrics circuit training, there is something for everyone.
