Happy New Year 2025

Hey Everyone,

This year is off to an interesting start. Despite a few serious personal challenges, there’s still a little time to reflect on how we can all continue to be So Healthy and Well. Looking back at 2024, here are a few key takeaways.

1/ Take a Deep Breath

A big part of self care is learning how to relax. Mediation, affirmations, and nature can help to minimize stress and improve your overall health.

A self care challenge is great at any time of the year.

2/ Work it Out

Make Exercise a Priority. There is nothing like some straight up endorphins to put stress at ease. Run, walk, kickbox, or twerk it out. Or maybe add a little zen to your life with some yoga. It always feels like a task, but once the workout is done you’ll feel the difference.

3/ Mark Your Calendar

It doesn’t have to be a holiday to schedule time to beautify. Make self care a priority in 2025. Try out a new skincare line, a glamorous new lipstick in a colored you would never even think of wearing or shimmery new eyeshadow that will surprise your friends and family. Whatever makes you feel good – just do it. My mantra is when you look good, you feel good. Start the year off right by making time for YOU!

Stretch Your Way to a Happier You

There’s one thing missing from your self-care routine – a good stretch!

A surprising fact about stretching is that it can improve your mood and mental health.

How? By triggering the release of endorphins, those natural “feel-good” chemicals, which help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. This is an important part of self-care because chronic stress can have a negative impact on both physical and mental health.

Benefits You Can’t Miss

It’s the one thing that we never seem to have time for (that extra 10-15 minutes before and after a workout), but with so many great wellness benefits, we should never skip the stretch. Stretching improves flexibility, increases blood flow to muscles, and can expand your range of motion. Regular stretching can also reduce muscle stiffness and soreness, and prevent injury.

From Stress to Stretch

Consistency is the key. Add stretching to your regular self care routine to help reduce stress and improve overall performance. Women should try to stretch at least two to three times a week, but daily stretching is ideal. Each stretching session should focus on all major muscle groups. Hold each stretch for about 15-30 seconds and repeat 2-4 times.

Conveniently Healthy

The good news is that it’s easier than ever to add a few good stretches to your self care routine. Popular spots like Stretch Lab, Stretch Zone, and Stretch*d have locations in Georgia, New York, and California. You can purchase drop in classes or invest in your health with a membership. Try one or try them all.

What’s most important is that you stay So Health and Well!

Summer Skincare Essentials

Have you ever noticed that you skin gets dryer in the winter or tends to produce more oil in the summertime? Do ever feel like the skin care products that you used in the fall don’t work that well in the spring? Are you wondering what products may work well through different seasons? I’ve found a few skin care products that help me to manage changing skin year-round.

Cerave is undoubtedly one of my top summer skincare essentials. My dermatologist recommended this many years ago and I’ve tried several different skin care products in this line. I like the foaming cleanser and the light feel of the moisturizers, but sometimes I feel like I can use a bit more moisture on my face. I’ve also tried their skin care products with Hyaluronic Acid and swear by this stuff because it helps to exfoliate the skin.

Many of the Asian skincare brands are amazing as well. The soaps are very natural and also exfoliate. In some seasons they can be a little harsh and I wouldn’t recommend them if you have really sensitive skin. The funny thing is that many of the old school soaps work well too! I think the skin is okay if it just gets a little attention.

In the past, I used to use Aveeno and I really like this product too. They have a brightener that seems to balance the skin if you’ve recently had a scrub or a peel. The misconception is that the any quick wash is good is enough. If you’ve ever used makeup removal wipes or oil blotters, you can literally see the dirt buildup. Just like the rest of our bodies, the skin needs a little affection. Just a few moments of self-care really will go a long way.

At the end of the day, nothing beats a good portion of water and some beauty rest!
