I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause

The plane was delayed. The gifts arrived late. The food was overcooked and I couldn’t get the dog to stop barking.

That sounds like the beginning of a horrible Christmas story…something like Home Alone!

But, it gets worse. I was ready to have the most wonderful Christmas ever until I realized that in no way, shape or form was I ready for that special moment that I would share with my cherished loved one.

You know…The kiss under the mistle toe.

I’m talking about berry flavored, buttery, scented long wear, bombgirl pink lipstick that I wouldn’t dare wear because my lips are not winter proof. That was my biggest fear.

If you’re into going the extra mile to make sure your lips don’t feel like cardboard during the winter and even more importantly during those magical holiday moments, here are a few of the top lipsticks, glosses and lip oils recommended by the experts at Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Allure, Vogue, Ulta Beauty, Lifestyle of Beauty & Skin, and Byrdie.

Holiday Makeup Looks

Whether you’re getting ready for the yearly family photo or planning to take a photo with Santa, the holidays give you plenty of good reasons to pull out your favorite makeup palette and get all dolled up. The best part is that there are so many looks to try! Take your pick from these top trending holiday makeup looks and bring a touch of glam to the festivities.

Smokey Cut Crease

Hearts are melting for glitter and this polished look is a holiday favorite. Dazzle and shine with a little dark eyeliner on the lower lid, add a shimmering earth tone, and use a dark shade in the crease of your eye. You can create different looks with colors like gold, bronze, purple, or blue. The right combination of colors look so amazing! It just makes the eyes so dramatic and sultry. You’ll love it.

Jewel Tone Green

Now, I’ve wondered whether or not I could vibe with the color green, but this makeup look leaves no question. ColourPop, Urban Decay, and Dior all offer palettes with a metallic green that will set this look off. Dior’s Metallic Backstage, ColourPop High Tide, and Urban Decay Naked Wild West palettes all have some really nice shades of green.  Use a heavily pigmented shade, layer it up, and don’t forget to add the black eyeliner.

New Age Classic

Make an elegant entrance with a makeup look that never goes out of style. This look is much more subtle but will complement any of your holiday festivities. You can never go wrong with the perfect dewy foundation, a cat eye, and a bold red lip. Foundations like MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix, NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, and Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte will help you create the perfect canvas to paint your holiday story, and matte colors like brown and beige are perfect for the lids.

Next, add the classic winged cat eye for the final touches. Create a fine line along the bottom of your upper eyelid and be sure to curve upward when you get to the outer corners of your eyes. Thicken the eyeliner around the outer corner edges to define your eyes for a finished look.

With these three looks and a mistletoe you simply can’t go wrong.

Wishing you a very merry and fabulous holiday season!
