7 Tips for Long-Lasting Nail Color: A Week of Vibrant Nails

I admit it. I’ve struggled with maintaining my nails for years. Recently, I’ve been able to get them to grow to a nice length but keeping them manicured and polished isn’t as easy as it seems. Not to mention that I’m always thinking about the budget friendly option.

Finally, I stumbled upon Essie polish and I’ve been able to keep my nail color on for seven days! (My favorite color is ballet slippers, which was Queen Elizabeth’s favorite color). I called it the seven day nail challenge.

I’ve found that having long-lasting nail color that stays vibrant for seven days requires a combination of careful preparation, quality products, and a bit of TLC. Here are seven beauty tips to help you maintain that perfect polish for an entire week:

1. Fresh Canvas

Before you apply any polish, make sure your nails are clean and dry. Remove old nail polish and trim your nails to your desired length. Use nail polish remover to create a clean canvas for the new color.

2. No Peel Please

Hydrated nails are less likely to chip or peel. Use a moisturizing cuticle oil to keep your nails and cuticles nourished. Healthy nails create a foundation for the perfect polish.

3. A Base Is for Quality

It may take a few extra minutes, but don’t skip the base coat! This step not only helps the polish go on better but also prevents staining. Use quality base coat to create a smooth surface.

4. Layer It Up

You might be tempted to apply one thick layer but thin coats of nail color dry faster and are less likely to chip. Allow each layer to dry completely before applying the next. Just a little patience is all you need for long lasting nail color.

5. Seal the Deal

Complete your manicure with a high-quality top coat. This will not only add shine but also act as a protective layer, shielding your nail color from daily wear and tear. Reapply the top coat every few days for added protection.

6. Mindful of the Mani

Be aware of your nails while you’re doing your daily activities like dishes, cleaning, and hair care. Try to avoid unnecessary wear on your nails. Consider wearing gloves when you’re doing tasks that involve water or chemicals. This will extend the life of your nail polish.

7. Plan to Perfection

Keep a small nail care kit handy for quick fixes. If you notice a small chip or imperfection, touch it up immediately with a bit of nail polish and a top coat. You’ve got stay on top of it to make sure your manicure looks fresh the entire week.

4 Step Winter Skin Care Routine

In a world buzzing with new and exciting beauty brands, getting healthy skin doesn’t have to be rocket science. A winter skincare routine is the key to unlocking your skin’s full potential. Whether you’re a skincare beginner or seasoned, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you create a personalized skincare routine that fits your unique needs.

Step 1: Know Your Skin Type

Understanding your skin type is the foundation of a successful skincare routine. Is your skin oily, dry, combination, or sensitive? Tailor your products to your specific needs to ensure you’re giving your skin the right care. If you’re unsure, consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional.

Step 2: Cleanse – The First Step to a Clean Canvas

Cleansing is the most important winter skin care tip.. Choose a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser based on your skin type. When you cleanse you remove impurities, makeup, and excess oils. Try to cleanse your face twice a day – in the morning and before bedtime – to maintain a clean canvas.

Step 3: Exfoliate – Buff Away Dullness

This is the secret to achieving flawless winter skin. Add a chemical or physical exfoliator into your routine to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote cell turnover. Be careful not to over-exfoliate, as it may lead to irritation. Start with 1-2 times a week and make adjustments based on your skin’s response.

Step 4: Hydrate – Quench Your Skin’s Thirst

Hydration is crucial in the cold months. Choose a moisturizer according to your skin type. Moisturizing helps lock in hydration, creating a protective barrier against the environment. Apply your moisturizer in the morning and at night to keep your skin nourished.

Creating your own skincare routine is a journey. Consistency is key. Listen to your skin, adapt your routine as needed for each season, and stick with it. With dedication and the right products, you’ll be well on your way to achieving a radiant and healthy glow!

The Beauty of the Season – Holiday Photo Makeup Tips

You may have already mastered the Christmas tree decorating and made the most delicious egg nog ever but, it takes some serious skill to achieve the perfect holiday photo makeup.

No need to dread that magic moment this year, these makeup tips will keep you looking stunning from every angle!

Flawless Base

Start with a smooth and moisturizing base. Use a primer to create a smooth canvas for makeup application. This will help your makeup last longer.

Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone for a natural look. Make sure your blend game is strong.  Blend your foundation evenly and pay attention to areas where you need extra coverage.

Use a concealer to brighten up the under-eye area and cover any blemishes. Set your base with a good translucent powder to minimize shine.

Define Your Eyes

Now you know you gotta make those eyes sparkle for the holidays!  Create a captivating look by applying eyeshadow in your favorite holiday shades like gold, silver, or deep jewel tones.

Define your eyes with a waterproof eyeliner for long-lasting wear. You can even make it a bit fancier by adding a subtle wing or doing a smoky eye look if that’s your preference.

Bold Lips

Choose a festive lip color that complements your overall look. Classic reds, deep berries, or even metallic shades are just amazing this time of year.

Outline your lips with a lip liner. This will define the shape and prevent feathering. Then, fill in with your lipstick to ensure a smooth and even application.

Blot excess product with a tissue so that you don’t transfer it onto your teeth. Be sure to keep that lip color looking vibrant!

Setting Spray

Be mindful of your makeup’s finish. A dewy or satin finish will give your skin a luminous glow that looks great in photos.

Finish it all off with a setting spray like Dior Forever Perfect or Smashbox Photo Finish. This will stop your makeup from melting or fading in photos.

Choose a setting spray that provides a natural finish and helps your makeup last while you pose in front of photography studio lights. Remember to test your makeup in different lighting to make sure it looks just right.

With these holiday makeup tips, you’ll be making seasons bright!

3 Holiday Self Care Tips

The holiday season can be a joyful time of the year. There’s the gift list, the Christmas tree, dinner, decor and more. It can be so amazing, but also somewhat stressful. Don’t forget to add a little selfcare. It’s the greatest gift you can give to yourself! Here are three self-care tips to help you prioritize Your well-being during the Christmas holiday:

Set Boundaries and Prioritize Rest

There may be tons of social events, gatherings, and commitments. It’s important to set boundaries and prioritize rest. Give yourself permission to turn down invitations if you feel overwhelmed or need some downtime.

Designate specific days for relaxation, where you can unwind without any pressure. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home, reading a book, or taking a long bath, make time for activities that help you recharge.

Create Meaningful Traditions

Instead of getting caught up in the hustle and bustle, focus on creating meaningful memories that bring you and your loved ones joy. Try watching your favorite holiday movie, baking cookies with loved ones, or taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood.

Do things that resonate with you personally and align with your values. Building positive traditions can add a sense of comfort and fulfillment to the holiday season.

Practice Mindfulness and Gratitude

Reflect on the positive aspects of your life and the things you’re thankful for.

Incorporate mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or mindful walks to stay present and reduce stress. Keep a gratitude journal to write down daily reflections on the things that bring you happiness and fulfillment.

Be mindful of your holiday experience – appreciate the beautiful decorations, savor the flavors of seasonal dinners, and enjoy the company of your loved ones.

Self-care is a personal journey, and it’s essential to listen to your own needs. Taking time for yourself during the holiday season can contribute to a more enjoyable experience and get you prepared for a prosperous new year!
